Artisan Projects
Projects featuring custom rugs, from boutique hotels to one-of-a-kind living spaces

Office | Chicago, IL
Lobby
Our wonderful clients AndTwoStudio collaborated with us to design two custom rugs for this office and retail building. We created an irregular-shaped, layered look using a soft tonal palette, and the rugs mirror each other diagonally to bring warmth and cohesion to the space.

Office | San Francisco, CA
Lobby
Working with AndTwoStudio on the 475 Sansome building in San Francisco’s Financial District, we designed an area rug for the Lobby. This rug features a simple two-color palette with a combination of loop and cut pile adding subtle texture, depth, and durability to the space.

The Jay Hotel | San Francisco, CA
Reception | Lobby | Lounge
We are proud to have collaborated with the renowned design firm AvroKO on a stunning renovation for The Jay Hotel in San Francisco. Our role in this exciting project was to create three large, custom-designed rugs for the hotel’s reception, lobby, and lounge areas. Each rug was hand-tufted using 100% New Zealand wool, ensuring both exceptional quality and durability.

Private Home | Hampton Bays, NY
Dining room
Located in Hampton Bays, NY beach community, our client chose a custom, flat-woven rug for the dining area of her home. Hand-knotted with Tibetan wool, we selected a neutral palette, punctuated with abstract motifs inspired from a passion for surfing.

Private Home | Auckland, NZ
Hallway | Dining | Living
My clients in New Zealand asked me to design rugs for three main areas of their new Auckland apartment. Using my Artisan process, I curated three bespoke rugs with a clear brief: to create a calming, zen-like sanctuary for the couple. The Moa rug in the hallway fades from dark to light, making the entry feel soft and welcoming. In the dining area, Wilton adds color and movement, tying in perfectly with the sage chairs and dark wood table. And in the lounge, with its views over Auckland City, we reworked a Te Aro design to bring in their love of retro while still matching the apartment’s palette. Each decision, from color to texture to pattern, was made to ensure that the space felt both personal and cohesive, allowing these rugs to serve as the foundation of a thoughtfully layered home.

Empire State Building | New York, NY
Reception
Collaborating with Fogarty Finger, two rugs were produced for a commercial pantry and reception area located on the sky-high 68th floor of NYC’s iconic Empire State Building. While straightforward in form and design, their production takes on a more bespoke approach - hand-tufted, 100% New Zealand wool with a tip-shear loop pile in the field, the burgundy lines slightly raised and contrasted by a cut-pile border.

Private Home | Harlem, NY
Dining room | Entry
Method + Moxie and their client decided on area rugs in warm, neutral hues for the entryway and a seating nook. Though the rugs are separated, they wanted them to be thematically connected, which we accomplished by using blue, silk lines – raised for a sense of movement on the nook piece. Each are hand-tufted in NZ wool, for refinement and durability.

Office | Financial District, NY
Amenities Lounge
Together with Fogarty Finger, we designed three custom rugs for the amenities space of a Financial District office building. Each design features bold geometric patterns and is hand-tufted in 100% New Zealand wool for high traffic and durability.

Both rugs are hand-tufted with silk borders, with variations in shape and silk color to keep them connected yet unique.

This West Village townhouse was one of our most challenging projects yet! Working with Sally Rigg of Rigg NYC, we were tasked with carpeting four staircases, each unique in size and shape. Every floor carries its own theme of vibrant jewel tones, all set against a shared neutral background. Hand-knotted in 100% Tibetan wool that suited installation.

Private Home | Boston, MA
Dining room | Living room | Den
Our Boston clients wanted to bring color and warmth into their home. They chose the Fā design from our Falelima Collection to anchor the living room, an artisan piece for the dining area, and Takahē for their den. Each rug is handtufted in NZ wool, with touches of silk in the dining and living spaces to add depth and dimension to the designs.

Office | Midtown, NY
Lounge | Conference rooms
We produced four large-scale area rugs for this New York office’s co-working, lounge, and conference spaces. The geometric designs repeat in a way that evokes architectural form, set in a warm, subdued colour palette. Durable enough for medium-to-high traffic, these rugs make a quiet statement while standing up to everyday use. Created in collaboration with Fogarty Finger.

We customised this piece to reflect the vibrant palette found in the surrounding artwork, arranging a dozen or so colours in soft gradient patterns. The paint-splatter design complements the modern feel of this West Village residence. Hand-tufted in New Zealand wool and shaped to work around the living room’s columns and planters, the rug was created in collaboration with Tamara Eaton Design.
